Tec diving at Gordo Banks offers divers the opportunity to explore its deep underwater seamounts, known for attracting diverse marine life, including pelagic species, most notably, Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks. The underwater topography, with steep drop-offs and underwater pinnacles, provides a unique environment for technical divers to conduct advanced training and engage in deep dives. Diving into the depths of Gordo Banks will open up a world of undiscovered, underwater landscapes and amazing wildlife encounters, making it a sought-after destination for those seeking the thrill of technical diving in a remote and vibrant marine environment.
Tec diving at Iman will put you into the unknown. A largely unexplored reef just an hour from San José, Iman offers some fantastic deep reef dives. 160ft below the surface hides pristine reef, home to huge schools of snapper, swirls of hunting Dorado, shoals of Sharks and roaming Marlin. Drift the bank and enjoy the show.
Just a Mile from the popular shoreline of Palmilla lays a bank of reef generally purposed from fishing. A little known dive spot, Skywalker boasts beautiful pinnacles, meandering sand channels and a vast variety of marine life. Expect to see rays, sharks and turtles hanging out around the cleaning sites scattered through the area.
Baja California is a hidden gem amongst the world of tec diving. Sat on the bottom end of the San Andreas fault line, the tectonic movement in this area has littered the ocean floor with deep canyons, vast escarpments and winding valleys, drawing massive amounts of pelagic life to the waters around San José. Come and join us on some deep exploratory dives and into the world of the deep dwelling species of San José.
Jacques Cousteau once called the Sea of Cortez, the “Aquarium of the World”. With so much still to be discovered, its a new and exciting time to be diving in Baja California. Join us on our journey through the depths of the ocean to find new and unknown sites.
Most divers are happy with the level they reach when they first learn to dive, but for the few who want to challenge themselves, grow and develop as divers they move towards technical diving.
Technical diving teaches new procedures for extended and adventurous diving, opening new sites, depths, animals and experiences to those who can do it. All our instructors choose to teach technical diving above anything else, it is our passion, our hobby, and our living. All instructors are PADI IDC Staff instructors and have a minimum 6 years teaching experience.

PADI's Tec 40 course is the first step into the world of technical diving, designed for certified divers looking to expand their underwater skills. It focuses on the use of enriched air nitrox and introduces divers to decompression diving within recreational limits. In Tec 40, participants learn to plan and execute decompression dives using a single decompression gas and a single stage decompression cylinder. The course also emphasizes equipment considerations, gas management, and emergency procedures, laying the groundwork for safe and responsible technical diving practices. Tec 40 serves as a pivotal point for divers seeking to venture beyond recreational limits while instilling a solid foundation for subsequent levels of technical diving training.
REQUIREMENTS:
COST: $700 + GAS
PADI's Tec 45 course is the next progression in technical diving education, designed for divers seeking to deepen their understanding and skills in decompression diving. Building on the foundation laid in Tec 40, this course introduces divers to the use of two decompression gases and additional dive planning considerations. Tec 45 participants gain expertise in managing accelerated decompression and extended dive times, preparing them for more challenging technical dives. The course also covers equipment configurations, gas switching procedures, and contingency planning to enhance safety in complex underwater environments. Successful completion of Tec 45 equips divers with the knowledge and proficiency needed to engage in deeper and more advanced technical dives while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety protocols.
REQUIREMENTS:
COST: $700 + GAS
PADI's Tec 50 course represents a significant step in the realm of technical diving, catering to experienced divers seeking advanced knowledge and skills. Building on the foundation laid in Tec 40 and Tec 45, this course delves deeper into the intricacies of decompression diving. Tec 50 participants learn to plan and execute dives with multiple decompression stops using up to two different gasses. The course places a strong emphasis on advanced dive planning, gas management, and problem-solving techniques, ensuring divers are well-prepared for extended and challenging technical dives. By completing Tec 50, divers demonstrate a high level of proficiency, enabling them to explore depths and environments that were once beyond the reach of conventional recreational diving. The course underlines safety as a paramount concern, instilling responsible practices for divers engaging in the more complex aspects of technical diving.
REQUIREMENTS:
COST: $700 + GAS
PADI's Tec Deep program is a comprehensive and advanced training initiative designed for experienced divers who aspire to explore the depths beyond conventional recreational limits. Comprising three distinct courses—Tec 40, Tec 45, and Tec 50—the Tec Deep program progressively builds technical diving skills. Tec Deep focuses on the use of multiple gasses for decompression, advanced dive planning, and sophisticated equipment configurations. Divers are trained to manage complex dive profiles, extended decompression obligations, and potential emergencies that may arise in challenging underwater environments. The program's systematic approach ensures divers acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for responsible and safe exploration of deep dive sites. PADI's Tec Deep program serves as a pathway for those seeking a thorough understanding of technical diving principles, preparing them for the exciting and demanding world of deep exploration beneath the waves.
